Clutches and Cover Ups

Omg…. I have been soul searching and trying to understand, how in God’s name have I become so heavy! This weight has just appeared out of no where and now I want it gone….

***Newsflash***
Your weight did not come over night and it surely won’t be leaving you in a overnight fashion. It doesn’t matter how many sit ups or surgeries you have done; your weight will come off over time.

Lets talk…

How many of you feel as if the weight you are at is ok it’s not “that” bad? Or that even thought “they” (doctors) were going over board with fitness and suggesting weights that were unrealistic? Feel like working out is too much or you don’t know where start in that big ol’ gym?

Ask yourself a question
“Why am I overweight?”

Do you use your weight as a clutch or cover up? Is it shielding you from hurt or pain? Is it your safety net?

Once you have answered those questions, look at yourself in a mirror and ask this question “Am I worth the change?”

As I evaluate myself and ask myself these same questions I have to be honest, I am furious at some of my own answers but its my truth. For some of us on this weight loss journey we will have to examine ourselves and with this examination we will be faced with some things we may have been hiding and/or need to fight off. Do not let your past affect your future; rather let it teach you how to go into a new you and let it give you strength that you will need to proceed in a new you.

Let us learn to first love ourselves! You didn’t just get to your weight so don’t be so hard on yourselves.

Until next time…

Are You Thick, Curvy, BBW or Fat

showing lvoe

Its one thing that I can say about our society; especially the women, they have been embracing their weight with such pride. You can’t really be mad about it either because hey that is what we have been taught. Love yourself for who you are, which is a true statement. So for all my beautiful people out there are you thick, curvy, BBW or fat?

Dressing up your weight to be glamorous is fine and dandy; however, it doesn’t change the fact that health wise you are slowly killing yourself. As a “curvy and thick” woman myself I have had come to the realization that I am not a healthy weight. And ultimately my family will be the ones to suffer if I do not change my lifestyle. There is absolutely nothing wrong being comfortable in the skin that you are and no I am not suggesting that you starve yourself to get into that size 2 dress in Banana Republic; however, I am saying choose live a healthy lifestyle. Choose to give yourself that freedom of not running out of breath every time you go up and down the stairs in your house, choose to give yourself the ability to keep with your kids. Choose to be healthy.

If you are thinking it is too hard to workout, eat healthy and take care of yourself/family; you’re wrong. There is a way to do all these things without overwhelming yourself and feeling as if you have to make all these changes at one time.

You will need someone on your side to support and encourage you. Before you start any dieting program research it before beginning it. Make sure you’re comfortable with all details. Here is a tip that I learned along the way. Before buying gym memberships and committing to Weight Watchers; start off eating healthy first and drinking plenty of water. When I say eat healthy I mean gradually substitute the stuff for the good stuff i.e., let’s say you like to eat toast for breakfast and you usually eat white bread trade it for whole wheat bread or wheat bread in general. Making small changes in your daily diet can be a great introduction to any dieting plan.

When it comes to your water intake, I know we were taught that drinking 64oz of water would be sufficient. Well I am here to let you know that that lesson is not true for every one. Lets say you are 200lbs; you would need to drink half of that to be taking in the proper amount of water. If you are like me I can not stand water but I have managed to incorporate this theory into my daily routine.

Well that is all I have for right now. Everyone have a blessed day and good luck on your journey to a new you.
